BIOGRAPHY

When thinking of five biological brothers that have made ahuge impact on the world through music, two names automatically come to mind:The Jackson 5 and The Winans. Now, with a unique and unbelievable blend ofharmony, we have five brothers known as TWB; whose emotional and touching musicexplains why they have been dubbed “The Boyz II Men of Gospel.”

“TWB” is the acronym for The Wardlaw Brothers, sons of Rev.and Mrs. Carl Wardlaw Jr. of Lyons, Georgia (Toombs County). In the group arefour lead singers, and one dynamic bass man. The eldest brother, Carl Anthony“Tony” has the traditional, soulful voice. Martin Luther “Tlyrics” is the mainlead vocalist with a voice that speaks to the spirit. He is also the primarysongwriter, musician and producer. “Jamie” Cornelius is the bass line thatdefines TWB’s unique sound and Carl III “Carlo” brings the holy hip-hop.Lastly, there’s Rodney Allen “Baby Boy”, the smooth, laid back voice of thefive.

In 1982, God began to anoint the Wardlaw family under thestewardship of Reverend Melvin Clark, pastor of the Friendly Missionary BaptistChurch, Tillicum, Washington. Listening to the voice of God, Reverend Clarkassembled the Friendly Baptist Church Choir which consisted of his three childrenand all six of the Wardlaw children. The choir began to perform all over theSouthwestern region of the state of Washington, singing songs like Swing LowSweet Chariot; Hush Somebody’s Calling My Name; Peace Like A River; and I Am Onthe Battlefield for My Lord.

When they moved back to GA, the family immediately joinedthe White’s Chapel Baptist Church with their mother, Mary Wardlaw, taking overthe direction of her children. They sang in Union Meetings, Associations, andYouth Programs as the representatives of the White’s Chapel Youth Department.Because they did not have a musician, the Wardlaw’s had to establish vocalharmony within their group. After years of dedicated praise through song, Godmoved once again and blessed the family with their very own musician, MartinLuther.

Having been inspired by the popular gospel group Take 6 andthe famous R&B group Boyz II Men, the brothers sought to bring a new soundto their music. It was at this time, the brothers began to revise the originalsongs that they had sung as youth in Tillicum, Washington. As the brothersbegan to establish their own distinctive brand of harmony and acclamation, theyagain realized how God had blessed them. This time God had touched the minds ofthe brothers, and they composed their first song. Soon, The Wardlaw Brothersfound themselves arranging songs for each occasion that they were to appear.

“TWB” hopes to bridge the gap between racial relations, promote family ties and strongly advocate education in all communities. Finally,“TWB” strives to build minority economic development and entrepreneurship, especially through their non-profit organization, Hand-to-Hand- Heart-to-HeartMentoring Program.

“TWB” has set out on a never ending mission for God. Theirquest is to spread the Gospel throughout the world at all times, glorifying HIMabove all else, in order that God’s will be done. With God always before them, they know there are no boundaries for The Wardlaw Brothers.
